oh my goodness.. know what? the external examiner for today's biochem vivas is..



Professor Birgitte Lane



"Also joining him in Singapore will be Sir David's wife, Professor Birgitte Lane, an eminent scientist in her own right, at the University of Dundee. Prof Birgitte Lane's research interests are in skin cells. In the early 1990s, her research team was one of the first to identify a critical link between mutations in keratin genes and cell fragility in skin cells, which was a turning point that led to many discoveries on the genetic basis of skin disorders. For the duration of their stay, Prof Birgitte Lane will assume the position of independent principal investigator at the Centre for Molecular Medicine (CMM) to further her research work, which is currently focused on how epithelial cells respond to stress."



My goodness.. even my mum knows who she is.. shows how big shot she is! apparently she and her husband turned down many lucrative offers and chose to come to singapore to further their research.. wah wah wah..



this is crazy lo.. i'm thinking at how she must be laughing at my idiotic answers.. "the free radicals attack and attack the mt dna and the mutations accumulate, and then the free radicals continue to attack the mt DNA.. so the ETC function decreases and produces more free radicals which will then also attack the DNA.." brilliant lo! attack lo!! i bet even her epithelial cells are laughing at my answer!
